Empirical Bayes combination of estimated areas under ROC curves using estimating equations.
نویسنده
چکیده
A synthesis of the empirical Bayes method and the method of estimating equations is used to combine individual receiver operating characteristic (ROC) area estimates from different studies of the same diagnostic test into a single estimate. This single estimate represents the population mean from which individual areas under the ROC curves were sampled. The only data needed to carry out the method are estimated areas under the ROC curves and the corresponding standard errors.

Semi-Empirical Likelihood Confidence Intervals for the ROC Curve with Missing Data
The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve is one of the most commonly used methods to compare the diagnostic performances of two or more laboratory or diagnostic tests. In this thesis, we propose semi-empirical likelihood based confidence intervals for ROC curves of two populations, where one population is parametric while the other one is non-parametric and both populations have missin...
متن کاملAsymptotic Properties of the Sequential Empirical ROC, PPV and NPV Curves Under Case-Control Sampling.
The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, the positive predictive value (PPV) curve and the negative predictive value (NPV) curve are three measures of performance for a continuous diagnostic biomarker. The ROC, PPV and NPV curves are often estimated empirically to avoid assumptions about the distributional form of the biomarkers. Recently, there has been a push to incorporate group se...
متن کاملUpper and Lower Bounds of Area Under ROC Curves and Index of Discriminability of Classifier Performance
Area under an ROC curve plays an important role in estimating discrimination performance – a well-known theorem by Green (1964) states that ROC area equals the percentage of correct in two-alternative forcedchoice setting. When only single data point is available, the upper and lower bound of discrimination performance can be constructed based on the maximum and minimum area of legitimate ROC c...
متن کاملEstimating the Area under a Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) Curve For Repeated Measures Design
The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve is widely used for diagnosing as well as for judging the discrimination ability of different statistical models. Although theories about ROC curves have been established and computation methods and computer software are available for cross-sectional design, limited research for estimating ROC curves and their summary statistics has been done for...
متن کاملSemiparametric estimation of the covariate-specific ROC curve in presence of ignorable verification bias.
Covariate-specific receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves are often used to evaluate the classification accuracy of a medical diagnostic test or a biomarker, when the accuracy of the test is associated with certain covariates. In many large-scale screening tests, the gold standard is subject to missingness due to high cost or harmfulness to the patient. In this article, we propose a sem...
